Welcome to Mrs. Knapp's Second Grade Class! Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am very excited to be your child's 2nd grade teacher. I am confident that together we can make it a wonderful experience for your child. I will be using this page during the school year to post a weekly parent letter. It will be published every Friday, or the last day of the school week. It is important that you read these letters every week to stay on top of what is happening in my 2nd grade classroom. If you ever have any questions regarding what is going on in 2nd grade, please send me an e-mail at [email protected]. I am looking forward to working with you in guiding your child in his or her spiritual, academic, and emotional growth this school year! May God Bless our year together as we grow in faith and knowledge! Our Mission Monroe Catholic Elementary Schools is a Christ-centered, Catholic learning community committed to the academic excellence and spiritual development of every student. Our Philosophy Monroe Catholic Elementary Schools is dedicated to providing a high-quality Catholic education for our students, in partnership with their families. Through this partnership, we believe that every student is capable of gaining academic skills and learning the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church. Our Goals To challenge and encourage students academically and spiritually by providing an environment that: · Creates a love of lifetime learning · Fosters each student's God given talents and gifts · Promotes love, understanding, and acceptance of self and others · Forms a commitment to serve others locally and globally · Teaches responsibility for one's actions and choices · Encourages every student to reach their highest academic potential The health and safety of our Monroe Catholic School students is our top priority. Due to the impact sugary snacks have on the health and behavior of our students, along with the sensitivity/severity of several types of allergies on both our St. Michael and St. John Campuses, edible birthday treats cannot be passed out at school this year. Students that would like to bring in birthday treats for their classmates may share something that is non-edible such as pencils, stickers, small toys, etc. Edible birthday treats have too much of an impact on our school day and will be sent home if they are sent to school. We want our children to feel special on their big day but believe we can achieve this through non-edible treats and other special attention in their classroom. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding and attention to this policy. |
