Support A.L.I.C.E. training/supplies and PD Learning at MCES
Dear MCES Families,
Last year we replaced the Morley Candy fundraising sale with a fall solicitation letter asking you to help meet the needs of our efforts to expand the Education in Virtue program and purchase some technology. You were amazing and helped us meet our fundraising goal purchasing Education in Virtue supplies for every single classroom, Chromebooks for our St. Mary and St. John Campuses and new tablets for St. Michael campus! This year we want to give you another chance to directly fund some of the outstanding needs of the school. With a direct charitable gift to MCES, we receive 100% of your gift to fund vital needs here at the school.
The two areas that MCES would like to request you consider donating to are:
Our staff participated this August in updated ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate) trainings. Through this work we recognized some additional needs for our campuses that we would like to purchase as soon as possible. This includes: ALICE related supplies for the classrooms including the story and activity books, I'm Not Scared... I'm Prepared! By Julia Cook for our classrooms preschool through 5th grade, training materials for our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and recommended devices for classroom doors to make them more secure and second story window ladders to make them better exits in an emergency.
Our teachers participate in ongoing professional development sponsored by the school, Archdiocese of Detroit or paid for with Title funds. However, these funds limit which conferences the faculty can attend and sometimes the best conferences might not receive funding. Gifts to this fund would help make it possible for our faculty and principals to attend these trainings and bring back knowledge for their classrooms and the entire MCES learning community. Our teachers report that professional development opportunities are one way to boost teacher satisfaction which therefore helps teacher retention.
ALICE and Professional development are both important to MCES so we hope you will enjoy this chance to help fund critical programs for our school community. If any of your friends and family members would like to also donate to this effort, I have enclosed additional donation forms for their review.
