Welcome to Eighth grade Religion. This year's curriculum is centered on Church history and the development of the faith. In addition we will assist with confirmation preparation in partnership with Faith Formation.
Students will need a composition book and a small folder or binder (they can use the back of another subject's binder)
Journals Students will be expected to complete a weekly journal based on the Gospel reading from the Sunday Mass. Initially we will discuss this in class on a Monday morning and there will be some time for completion in class. After a few practice weeks students will be responsible for completing the journals at home. The readings will be posted on this page.
Homework and Assignments
Students should be working on their Saint boards for class/confirmation. These are due on October 25th -Checklist. Remember to use at least three sources (not Wikipedia) and include a Works Cited in MLA format. There will be class time on Monday and Tuesday if needed.
10/21 Sunday Gospel Mk 10: 35-45 Read the Gospel. This will be the last week we do this in class.
10/14 Sunday Gospel Mk10:17-30 Read the Gospel.
10/05 Sunday Gospel Mk10:2-16. Read the Gospel.
09/24/18 Complete the journal for your Gospel. Complete Recognizing Our Faith on page 28 and #1-10 Assessment page 29. Due Sept. 25th
09/21/18 Sunday Gospel Mk 9:30-37. Make sure you read the Gospel before Monday Sept. 24th.
09/18/18 - Bring in a copy of the parish newsletter on Thursday 09/20. You can download and print from the website. It does not need to be in color. 10 pts.
09/16/18 - Sunday Gospel - Mk 8:27-35. Read ready for class on Monday 09/17.

09/09/18 - Gospel Mark 7:31-37 - Completed in class
08/30 - Acrostic - Using the letters of your first name identify a quality you possess. Then, show how that quality heps others. Don't just say "Caring" - I am caring. Instead say something like "caring" - I am caring to others because I ask to help with chores at home when my Mom is tired from work and I sit with my friends and comfort them when they are upset. Write the acrostic on plain paper and decorate it in a visually attractive way. These will be displayed in the classroom. Due date: 09/07/18
Grading will be based on content and presentation (10 points each, total 20)
