MCES Garden School
Welcome back to all MCES parents and students!
It is an exciting time of year as we get back to school and into the garden. I am thrilled to teach garden school to your child this fall. We will learn a lot of exciting and new things in our 8 weeks of garden school. We will become familiar with the garden and learn why the environment is important. The purpose of the garden is to have a hands-on experience that incorporates science, math, religion and healthy living.
What to wear on Garden Days
I respect that the children will be in their school uniforms on the garden school days. We will do our best to keep the children clean by wearing aprons when we are digging or planting. Each class is approximately 30 minutes in length and we are planning on being outside unless it is rainy.
I am aware of the many food allergies within the school and I will keep in compliance with the school allergy policy. Only fresh fruit and vegetables will be offered to the children during our harvest lesson. If you have a concern regarding your student please contact me directly.
We need volunteers in the garden and it is a great way to get your service hours. We can use help during instructional hour and maintaining the garden. Remember that you must have competed Protecting Gods Children before you can volunteer.
A big THANK YOU to Heather Laboe for creating our beautiful outdoor classroom and her many years of dedication. I am looking forward to following in her footsteps and working with your student to bring an awareness of the importance of God’s beautiful creation.
